๐Ÿ—œ๏ธ Image Compressor

Upload a JPEG, PNG or WebP image and compress it right in your browser. You will see the original size and dimensions, the compressed size, and the real measured percentage reduction โ€” then download the result. Nothing is uploaded anywhere.

JPEG, PNG or WebP ยท up to 25 MB ยท processed in your browser, never uploaded

Your files stay with you. This tool runs entirely in your browser. Nothing is uploaded to any server.
Please note: Compression results depend on your source image and the settings you choose. A simple graphic compresses far more than a detailed photograph, and no fixed reduction ratio can be promised for every image.

How the Image Compressor works

Choose a file or drag and drop it onto the upload area. The tool reads the image locally, shows a preview along with its file size and pixel dimensions, and lets you pick an output format and quality level.

When you press Compress, the image is re-encoded in your browser. The result preview appears together with the compressed file size and the actual percentage of size reduction, calculated from real byte counts.

Choosing an output format

JPEG is a good default for photographs. WebP usually produces smaller files than JPEG at similar visual quality and is supported by all modern browsers. PNG keeps every pixel exactly, which is ideal for logos and graphics with sharp edges, but it will not shrink photographs as aggressively.

If you upload a PNG photograph and want the smallest file, try WebP output at quality 75โ€“85 and compare the preview with the original.

What the quality slider changes

The quality slider (10โ€“100) controls how aggressively JPEG and WebP discard fine detail. Higher values keep more detail and produce larger files; lower values shrink the file further but may show visible artifacts.

For PNG output the slider has no effect, because PNG compression is lossless. The tool shows a note to this effect so the control never misleads you.

Example

A typical result. A creator exports a 4.2 MB product photo, runs it through the Image Compressor at quality 80 as WebP, and downloads a 380 KB version โ€” the exact reduction is measured and shown on screen before downloading.

Frequently asked questions

Which image formats can I compress?

JPEG, PNG and WebP images are supported where your browser can decode them. Files up to 25 MB are accepted; larger files are rejected with a clear message rather than failing silently.

What does the quality slider do?

The quality slider applies to JPEG and WebP output, which use lossy compression. PNG output is lossless, so the slider does not change PNG results โ€” the tool tells you this on screen.

Are my images uploaded anywhere?

No. Your image is processed entirely in your browser using local code. It is never uploaded to our servers or any third party.

How is the size-reduction percentage calculated?

The percentage is calculated from the actual byte size of the generated output versus the original file: (original โˆ’ compressed) รท original ร— 100. It is measured, never estimated.
